ABOUT US

We are a small and relatively new business, with a wealth of experience behind us! Our aim is to provide a fresh approach to dance training, combining the best of traditional and new methods to give our students the very best. Any student who walks through the doors should leave feeling better than when they arrived, whether they dance for fun or have ambitions to perform professionally.

OUR VALUES

Community

We build a true community at HEDA. All of our classes and events are designed to create cameraderie and true connection between our dancers and families. We grow together.

Fun First

We hit a balance of fun and discipline in our classes. Dance should be fun before anything else, and when our students are enjoying what they're doing, they perform better.

Individuality

Our school is where dancers can be their authentic self. Growing up is hard, and our classes are a safe space where children's individual personalities are celebrated.

Excellence

Everything we do is to empower all children to do their best and be proud of their achievements. With all children achieving 80 or above in our recent exam session, we are proof that fun and excellent training can go hand in hand!

OUR STORY

Helena launched Helena Elizabeth Dance Academy in September 2024, after years of teaching in schools and dance schools in North West London. Helena wanted to create a welcoming school that provides quality dance training that is fun, creative and inspiring.

Helena grew up in Hull, East Yorkshire, and dancing contributed so much to her childhood. It’s where she found her confidence, her authentic identity, and an outlet for when life got tricky. Helena started assisting and teaching dance classes at for her dance teacher when she was 14, and this quickly grew into her ‘thing’. Helena wants to pass on her passion for dance to the next generation and provide a safe and positive environment where children can share their love of dance together.

HEDA aims to mix together the best of traditional and new methods to create a one-stop shop for budding dancers. HEDA is a place where dancers gain all the tools they need to succeed, whilst maintaining a warm and welcoming place where they can feel secure, valued and seen as their authentic self.

We specialise in ballet, tap, modern jazz and contemporary dance. Helena is a member of the International Dance Teacher’s Association, which allows us to enter students for examinations.

DANCE EXAMS

IMG_8600

We structure our dancers’ training with exams, using the International Dance Teachers’ Association (IDTA) syllabus.

HEDA uses exams to further our dancers’ education, enhance their training and boost their confidence. IDTA offers such a variety of exams that we can tailor the exam to best suit our dancers, making it a positive experience that motivates them and teaches them valuable life skills.

Exams are optional at HEDA, but our students thoroughly enjoy them and they really do thrive.

“Thanks so much for the effort getting them ready for the exam. my daughter really enjoyed it and came out buzzing which is a testament to you (and the lessons- which she also loves!)”
